It is wonderful to read someone who appreciates Rachel Held Evans as much as I do. It appears that Evangelicals are horrified by the nature of questions and they are not alone in that. My own experience includes damage done by clergy making unilateral decisions about lay leadership, budget concerns, and even church clergy appointments, and in the aftermath congregants are left wondering what happened. When asked, they are told it was the decision of the clergy and that's their right.

If calling it "deconstructing" makes people worry, call it something else. Call it examining the dimensions of one's faith - what's in the corners of your belief? However, if your concern is how to convince me that God loves me one minute and does not love me the second I come out of the closet, find a new audience. I don't have to deconstruct anything to know that is a remnant of cultural dust on the nightstand of my faith. That's what they make Pledge for. I like the lemon-scented kind.
